Margeaux Feldman is a writer, educator, and activist living in Tkaronto. She’s currently finishing up her PhD in English Literature at the University of Toronto, where she’s also a part of the collaborative program with the Mark S. Bonham Centre for Sexual Diversity Studies. Her dissertation, “Hideous Girls, Sick Women,” traces the legacy of hysteria into our contemporary moment, looking at three different sites where teen girls and young women continue to have their sexuality pathologized: the treatment of chronic illnesses and autoimmune diseases, the resistance to comprehensive sex education and the teen pregnancy “epidemic” in the American South, and responses to contemporary women’s writing about ugly sex. Margeaux also holds a Certificate in Community Engaged Learning from the University of Toronto. Community-building is vital to the work she does, including regularly facilitating workshops on topics ranging from “Queer and Trans Inclusivity” to “Community Accountability,” and curating Unruly Bodies: A Night of Storytelling. Her creative and academic writing have been published in Psychoanalysis, Culture and Society, GUTS Magazine, The Vault, Minola Review, The Puritan, FEELS Zine, Hook & Eye, and she has a piece forthcoming in Invisibilities Zine. Margeaux has been asked to speak at a variety of events, including the Koffler Salon, With/Out Pretend’s series “Unresolved Feelings,” and Pages UnBound’s “Girl Crush: Conversations about Female Friendship.” She’s currently at work on a memoir entitled The Bed of Sickness: Essays on Care, which chronicles the legacy of sickness in her family, including her mother’s death from cancer, her father’s diagnosis of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, and her own diagnoses of complex PTSD, anxiety and panic disorders, and fibromyalgia.

Lauren Fournier is a writer, curator and artist of settler ancestry currently based in Tkaronto/Toronto. She holds a PhD from York University, where she wrote a multidisciplinary history of “autotheory” as a post-1960s mode of feminist practice that spans conceptual art, literature and art writing. She has over ten years of experience working in contemporary art spaces in Canada and abroad, and has organized exhibitions at such venues as the Blackwood Gallery, Büro BDP, Art Gallery of Guelph and Vtape. She has been invited to author catalogue essays and other art writing texts for a number of artist-run centres, commercial galleries and public art museums, including Dazibao, Untitled Art Society, Zalucky Contemporary, Susan Hobbs, Wil Aballe Art Projects, Oslo National Academy of the Arts and the Organization of Saskatchewan Arts Councils; her experimental criticism has been published in Canadian ArtMagenta, Femme Art Review and KAPSULA. Recent curatorial projects include the touring, site-specific Fermenting Feminism (2017-ongoing) and An Intuitive List (2018), a co-curated collaboration with Daniella Sanader at the London Ontario Media Arts Association that explores ideas of “reading” in Indigenous and Canadian femme video art (LOMAA). She has presented her ideas on autotheory and fermentation in Los Angeles, New York, Kansas City and Berlin. Right now, she is especially interested in comedy and catharsis, intuition, working-class knowledges, intergenerational trauma and the politics of settler-colonialism. Her work takes the form of publications, exhibitions, screenings and collaboration. Her first novel, Feminist Father Worship, is forthcoming 2020.
